Not only are plants great for brightening up any plain old office, they are also great for purifying the air and removing all of those nasty pollutants, making your office a brighter and healthier working environment. Of course an office will need a low maintenance plant rather than one that requires a lot of love and attention, so we have put together a list of the Top 5 Plants to Clean the Air in Your Office!
Aloe Vera
The Aloe Vera plant can make any office look trendy and grows best in the summer sunshine! They need very little attention and can go weeks without water, making it perfect for when you’re out of the office for a while, although we would recommend watering it once a month. If you’re looking for an extremely low maintenance plant that grows in practically any condition, then we would definitely recommend the Aloe Vera plant!
Pollutants removed: Formaldehyde
Dracaena
A Dracaena will need slightly more attention, with the plant needing watered on a weekly basis. They typically have very thick and rough leaves, although this will vary as there are around 40 different varieties of the Dracaena. As this plant can grow fairly tall in size, it will make a great floor plant to any office.
Pollutants removed: Benzene, Formaldehyde and Trichloroethylene and Xylene
Snake Plant
Also known as the ‘St George’s Sword’, the Snake Plant is another one of our favourites. Only needing watered around once a month, the Snake Plant is extremely low maintenance and will grow easily regardless of the heat conditions it is exposed to. It grows best in low-light corners and depending on the type of species, can grow between 8 inches and 12 feet in height. You’ll be spoilt for choice with the Snake Plant, with 70 species to choose from!

Spider Plant
The Spider Plant is the most versatile plant of the five, as it can grow in all sorts of temperatures and conditions. They are very easy to maintain and grow best in indirect sunlight, with the possibility of small white flowers growing from the plant in summer months depending on how well you take care of it. With pale yellow stripes flowing down the long green arched leaves, they add that well-needed splash of colour to any desk lacking character and personality! The Spider Plant is usually kept in hanging baskets, although they do grow fairly well at room temperature. Water the Spider Plant around once a week, but slightly more often in the growing period.
Pollutants removed: Formaldehyde and Xylene
Peace Lily
The Peace Lily will add a great tropical vibe to any bare office and with its large leaves and sheer white lily flowers, it looks great in the summer! It grows best in darker areas and again, only needs watering once a month. The white blooms on this plant will bring a fresh fragrance to the office in warmer months, but the Peace Lily doesn’t cope too well in colder conditions.
